Family support that
helps prevent a crisis

Family support
Children thrive on routine and stability—but for actor-parents, unpredictability is part of the job. That uncertainty can affect the whole family’s wellbeing. ACT offers advice, resources, and family support to help create stable home lives and prevent crises.
Expert advice

Our Family Support team provides one-to-one support and casework to actor parents. This support includes family administration and form filling, attending school, medical or local authority meetings about your child and advising on your rights as a parent.

In recent times ACT has supported families via casework, Zoom meetings, phone calls, texts and emails. Issues have included:

  • School placements, exclusions and transitions.
  • ACT can pay teenagers directly, or parents, or a 50:50 split.
  • Education health and care plans
  • Debt
  • Homelessness
  • Illness and injury
  • Depression and mental illness
  • Family breakdown, divorce and access
  • Universal Credit, Disability Living Allowance and Personal Independence Payment
  • Bereavement
  • Pregnancy and maternity
  • Retraining
  • Child in Need and Team Around the Child meetings
  • Childcare
  • Caring for older parents
  • Domestic abuse, addiction and crime.

Our team works with other charities, schools, social services, sometimes speaking on a parent’s behalf and reviewing or writing documentation. Please do get in touch via our email address info@actorschildren.org or via our contact form on the website.
